Theory of Writing.

Writing is a person.

For many years, writing has been my safe space. It has been kind of my own therapy. I put into words, either metaphorically or simply a letter I want to write to my future self whatever I am feeling or the situation I am in or my state of mind. Since I was young, I always felt passionate about writing. I used to read short stories and books and wanted to write my own and always started a few but never finished them. As I kept growing up, my style of writing has changed too. It evolved with me. I became more interested in writing poems. Every poem I wrote was done when I felt like writing it. When I felt like the situation I was needed to be expressed in a poem, I just typed all the ideas out. My poems reflect who I am, who I was, who I will be. I read my first poems and I realize how much I have evolved. Not only poems but also essay I have written either for classes or that I felt passionate about. Those old drafts made me realize one thing, writing is the only or one of the few things that evolves with you. It changes as you change.

My writing to me is the only thing I have that is not afraid to be whatever I want it to be. Writing is me. Writing can communicate a lot about a person. If someone is sad, they will reflect it on their writing. If someone is in love, we always know a good love story. If someone likes science, we have scientific articles to enrich our knowledge. This is what makes writing so powerful. It is an art that can be as versatile as a person. Writing can be about anything you want it to be with no limits. Just as writing people can be anything they want. (Different personalities, interests, hobbies, etc) One day I am interested in politics and I want to write an angry essay criticizing the government, the next day I can be in love and write a poem to the person I am in love with. Writing has no boundaries, even if someone feels like they cannot write because it is not part of them, at some point they may even write a small sentence that they feel is meaningful and defines who they are at the moment. I say at the moment because, as I stated before, writing evolves as you evolve. You may take what you have learned and incorporate it in old work or simply leave it in the past and do some new work with your new knowledge because just as a person, writing can be anything you want it to be.
